About the speakers

Steve Cercone

About Steve

 

Steve Cercone is a former California chief of police and the founder of Safe Cities Global, a business development consulting firm serving public safety technology providers. Steve has also served with Accenture, Oracle, Amazon, and Ingram Micro as a public safety and security executive.

Before the corporate world, Steve spent nearly 30 years in American law enforcement, finishing his career as chief of police for the City of Seaside Police Department in California. His police experience includes service as captain, lieutenant, undercover detective, and SWAT team supervisor. Steve also served with the City of Bellevue near Seattle and the City of San Mateo in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Steve sits on the corporate council of the Citizens Crime Commission of New York City and serves as Global Public Safety Lead for the Smart Cities Council. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco in organizational behavior.

Steve has appeared on several American TV documentaries including CBS 48 Hours and the Discovery Channel. Originally from Boston, he now lives near Sacramento, California.

About Rob

 

Rob Turner leads the Corrections sub-vertical for the AWS SLG Justice and Public Safety team. 

Rob has extensive experience in public safety including law enforcement, disaster response, tactical communications, cybersecurity, policy, and legislative affairs. He works with AWS partners to ensure effective technology solutions are available to AWS JPS customers nationwide.

Immediately prior to joining AWS, Rob was the Chief of Investigations and Security Manager for the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. Before working in the Senate, he served over 21 years in the United States Marshals service. Rob founded and led several national technical operations programs in the Marshal's service throughout his career, and retired from law enforcement as the United States Marshal for Washington D.C.
